Friends of Morro Elementary

Join us in advocating for the future of the Historical Morro Elementary site! SLCUSD has deemed the property a surplus property selling the property appraised at 10.2M. The city of Morro Bay has been given 60 days to act, now is the to come together and support the city in this acquisition. Together, we can collaborate on an exciting vision that benefits our community for years to come. Let’s ensure this valuable space serves a purpose that enriches the lives of all residents!

**Update**

The City of Morro Bay has made significant progress towards acquiring the Morro Elementary school property. On Tuesday, August 12, the City Council voted unanimously in a closed session to send a letter to the San Luis Coastal Unified School District. This letter will address two key points: a bid for the soccer fields and open space under the Naylor Act, and a reaffirmation of the City's intent to negotiate a purchase price for the remaining portion of the school site. The City Attorney is currently drafting the letter, which must be submitted by Tuesday, August 26.
